Since its inception in 2018, the success of DBM (“Design by Mahsa”) has been driven through reputation. The boutique design studio has created a significant standing in the market with repeat business and referral base growth creating over 85% of all projects. This truly defines organic growth, however with some of the largest, and most prestigious, design projects in Dubai being award to DBM, strategic progress will continue to redefine DBM’s position in the design industry.
The reference to ‘boutique’ can be somewhat misleading when describing DBM, in fact the corporate philosophy adopted ‘boutique’ as a way to describe the personal and bespoke approach to each design and project. It is evident that DBM is capable to deliver the largest of projects, this is reinforced though the completion of two (2) of the largest commercial design projects in Dubai throughout 2022.

Sand Restaurant is set in a contemporary, refined dining space, serving delights which bring out the authentic taste of Middle Eastern cuisine. From starters, to mains and barbecue, the ambience is set to tantalize the taste buds of patrons who appreciate the food and culture of the region.
To depict the natural aura in Sand Restaurant, inspiration is taken from the lifestyle and landscape of the region such as Kazakhstan’s Charyn Canyon and the silk road yurt camps – which particularly represents the unique cultural identity of the people. The concept of design for its interior is inspired by tradition, flavours, climate, landscape, art and culture of the people. The 225-seat capacity dining space uses colours, décor and material which welcomes friends and family to a chic and modern setting. There is also an open kitchen where patrons can see their delicacies being prepared – and those unforgettable sights are emboldened by the handmade terracotta tiles used in the finishing of the space.
Together, the elements of design, beautifully intertwined with Middle Eastern culture set the stage for a space which is complete in aesthetics, functionality and a natural ambience; ready to savour authentic traditional cuisine.
BOUTIQUE IN APPROACH
During the Interior Design Briefing Phase, the client and our team come together to initiate the creative process. The client provides essential insights, preferences, and requirements, giving us a comprehensive understanding of their vision.
Through multiple brainstorming sessions , both parties exchange ideas and collaborate to refine the design concept. To ensure the design aligns with the client’s expectations, we conduct thorough market research, exploring the latest trends, materials, and innovative solutions. With the gathered information, our team creates a captivating mood board that captures the desired ambiance and aesthetics.
Additionally, we prepare initial general arrangement layouts, presenting various spatial configurations for the client’s review. This collaborative approach sets the initial direction of the design and establishes a solid foundation for the project’s progression.

As an Iranian born and Australian educated designer, Mahsa’s international experiences and diverse project portfolio have cemented her reputation as an avant-garde in interior design, challenging mainstream trends to conceive innovative spaces and enhancing consumer experiences. Mahsa is known as a storyteller through design, creating distinctive aesthetics, yet managing to form designs with an identity unique to its space and purpose. A reflection of the passion which speaks the language of creativity within each design.
As Founder and Design Director of the boutique interior design studio in Dubai, Mahsa’s portfolio portrays exquisite projects within the hospitality, commercial, retail, food & beverage and residential sectors in the Middle East and Australia. This experience extends to the full cycle of design build projects, from premium boutique hotels and bespoke restaurants, though to luxury residences and large-scale commercial/retail spaces.
